The Prizes and Betting Secretariat of the Ministry of Treasury (SPA) implemented new inspection rules for sports betting platforms. Thus, the recent ordinance determines the permission for both in-person and remote inspections at the headquarters of these companies.
According to the document, physical visits will take place “when the need for on-site examination of materials, equipment and other resources used by the betting operating agent is verified”.
Remote inspections will be carried out through “connection to a remote device with secure and unrestricted access to systems, platforms, data and other resources used by the agent”.
Farm test for licensing runs until August 20th
The Treasury stated that it will review the documentation of bookmakers that make the request by August 20, with analysis scheduled for the end of the year. The expectation is that the new rules will promote more transparency and security in the sector.
In other words, monitoring by the Treasury Department, both remotely and in person, offers several advantages for the regulation and control of sports betting and casinos. Here are some of the main advantages:
- Conformity assurance – to know that the equipment or programs are not defective.
- Security and integrity – so bettors can be sure no fraud occurs.
- Transparency and control – no information can be passed on illegally.
- Prevention and proactive correction – inspection allows you to create a history of problems and make corrections even before applying new standards.
- Continuous improvement – continuous supervision allows the process to be improved, both in physical and remote establishments, making the process better every year.
Therefore, these combined advantages help to ensure that the online betting and gaming sector operates fairly, safely and in compliance with laws and regulations within the national territory.
