Big Brazil Se Junta ao Mercado de Apostas Esportivas no Brasil
Big Brazil pede autorização federal para atuar em território nacional

Big Brazil, the company that owns the Caesars Sportsbook brand in Brazil, is the newest candidate to operate sports betting and online games in the country.

The company is the fifth to apply for the license on the website of the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA), registered in the Betting Management System (Sigap) of the Ministry of Finance since July 26th.

Deadline for regulationfor sports betting

Other companies already in the license application process include:

  • Sportingbet (VENTMEAR BRASIL S.A.)
  • Rei do Pitaco (MMD TECNOLOGIA, ENTRETENIMENTO E MARKETING LTDA.)
  • Superbet (SPRBTBR LTDA)
  • Betano (KAIZEN GAMING BRASIL LTDA)

Thus, the Ministry of Treasury established a deadline of 180 days for analyzing requests. However, bookmakers who submit a request by August 20th will receive an opinion by December 31st.

So, from January 1, 2025, non-regularized companies will be prohibited from operating in Brazil.

“To be included in Sigap, the bookmaker needs to send a series of documents, comply with an extensive list of requirements demanded by the regulator. Therefore, many companies still do not appear in the system, although they have already started the process, which can last months “, stated Plínio Lemos Jorge, president of the National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL), of which Big Brazil is a member.

Big Brazil has already started its regularization in RJ

In addition to seeking the federal license, Big Brazil also carried out the Proof of Concept (PoC) to operate in the State of Rio de Janeiro and is awaiting evaluation from Loterj.

According to André Feldman, CEO of Big Brazil, the state was strategically chosen because it has “greater potential than several European countries. In other words, the state has the same population as Belgium, the Czech Republic, Greece, Sweden, Portugal, among others” .

With this move, Big Brazil seeks to consolidate the Caesars Sportsbook brand in Brazil, starting with Rio de Janeiro, and position itself as one of the main operators in the country.

Expectations are high, especially with the growing interest in the Brazilian online betting market, which promises to be one of the largest in the world.
