Anatel notifica provedores para bloquearem casas de apostas em licenças da Loterj

Complying with the determination of the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) informed providers operating in the state of Rio de Janeiro to block the URLs of betting websites that do not have authorization from Loterj.

The list includes names of companies sponsoring Série A clubs, such as Botafogo (Parimatch), Fluminense (SuperBet) and Vasco (Betfair), as well as Betano, Esportes da Sorte, Vaidebet and many others.

Judge Paulo Zuniga Dourado accepted Loterj’s request and demanded that “Anatel promote the operational legitimacy of the listed companies” and take “the appropriate measures, within the limits of the state, to determine the suspension of fixed-odd betting lottery activities that are in disagreement with the legislation applied to the species”.

The action is a development of the regulations that Loterj created for online betting. According to the entity, only five companies are currently accredited.

While other bookmakers operate without licensing and without paying due taxes, which would be, according to Loterj, “unfair competition”.

Companies already accredited by Loterj

In 2023, Loterj announced a notice for accreditation for betting companies, with a grant value of R$5 million for a period of 5 years of operation. However, this amount is well below the request by the Ministry of Finance, which is R$30 million.

Currently, the companies accredited in Rio de Janeiro are Apostou RJ, Bestbet, Marjosports, Rio Jogo and Pixbet. And with accreditation underway: Caesars Sportsbook, Key Solution Gaming of Bet, PNR, Purple & Green and SDL Loterias.
