The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced the creation of an exclusive channel for reporting match-fixing in football games.

This initiative was communicated through a letter sent to the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) on the Manipulation of Games and Sports Betting in the Federal Senate.

The measure is a direct response to the letter sent by the CPI, which requested the creation of a specific mechanism for these complaints.

Letter signed by Senator Jorge Kajuru

In the CPI letter, signed by senator Jorge Kajuru (PSB/GO), president of the commission, the need for a reporting channel accessible to the population was highlighted.

The request highlights the need for a way for society and everyone involved in football to contribute information about irregularities.

“The suggestion of this Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry to create a reporting channel accessible and open to society and other actors involved in football, in order to support the entity’s actions regarding the investigation and control of irregularities in the competitions it organizes” , mentions the craft.

The president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, confirmed that the entity was already negotiating with a specialized company to implement the reporting channel. Three forms of contact will be available: telephone, internet and a smartphone app.

“In this sense, with equal pleasure I inform your excellency that the suggestion is in line with measures in this precise sense that are already being processed by this CBF, which is in an advanced stage of negotiation and on the verge of the conclusion of the competent contract with a specialized company for immediate implementation “, stated Rodrigues in the document.

Creation of a reporting channel about manipulation of results

The CPI for Game Manipulation and Sports Betting will call a meeting to discuss recent allegations of match manipulation in Brazilian football.

Among the guests will be Estevam Soares, former coach of Patrocinense, Danilo Maluf, president of Inter de Limeira, and Roberto Avatar, president of Patrocinense.

Thus, the accusations involve the clubs in issues related to the manipulation of results, especially after Inter de Limeira won 3-0, with all the goals scored in the first half, raising suspicions.

Therefore, the creation of a reporting channel by the CBF is a crucially important step towards increasing transparency and combating irregularities in Brazilian football.
