The Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, will be at a meeting promoted by the Frente Parlamentar do Empreendedorismo to discuss the regulation of gambling, bingos and casinos in Brazil.

Today, Bill 442/1991 – which was approved in the Chamber of Deputies – is in the Senate. This event should take place next Tuesday, 22.

The parliamentarians who support the legalization of gambling and casinos in Brazil claim that the collection could reach up to 20 billion reais annually and result in up to 650,000 new direct and full job openings.

According to the Blog do Noblat no Metrópoles, Sabino, as a deputy, was already in favor of regulation.

If PL 442 is approved in the Senate, casinos can be managed by resorts or leisure complexes, with a series of prerequisites such as restaurants, number of hotel rooms, among others.

Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) has already indicated that the regulation of sports betting can serve as a test for the release of casinos in Brazil. However, there is still no forecast for the issue to be appreciated in the House.

According to Veja, the Minister of Tourism has already spoken with 81 congressmen in his office, in addition to having opened a dialogue greater than that of former Minister Daniela Carneiro.

Sabino is even taking several colleagues from Centrão on trips around the country, which has attracted a lot of sympathy from former colleagues. Also according to Metrópoles, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is approving the work of the new minister.

Federal Government evaluates support for the return of casinos in Brazil

The Federal Government is already temporarily debating support for the processing of the project that can legalize gambling in Brazil, the so-called ‘Legal Framework for Gambling‘.

According to an article by O Globo, vice president Geraldo Alckmin is sympathetic to the idea.

In an interview with Globo, Sabino pointed out that the project favors the tourism sector and stated that “the majority of the government” with whom he spoke is favorable.

Alckmin, who is also Minister of Development, Industry and Trade, met Mor Weizer of Playtech, a provider of casino games, in July.

The bill is also of interest to the mayor, Arthur Lira (PP-AL). In addition, the project is defended by the president of the PP, senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), however, it faces resistance from the evangelical bench.
