Project that legalizes bingos and casinos can be voted on today by the Chamber

This Tuesday, the 22nd, the House of Representatives may vote on the bill that legalizes gambling in Brazil, such as casinos, bingos and Jogo do Bicho (PL 442/91). The PL also allows the states to obtain more tools to explore lottery games in their regions.

According to the substitute approved by a special commission in 2016, casinos can only be installed in resorts, always integrated into a leisure activity, the size of the casino will always be according to the population of the state in which it is built.

If this law is passed, all those accused of exploiting illegal gambling in the legalized modalities will have amnesty, automatically excluding all processes from the publication of the law.

Bingo and the Jogo do Bicho

In the case of approval of the PL, the text allows the exploitation of bingo on a permanent basis only in places such as: bingo houses, jockey club or in a football stadium.

Casual or occasional bingo games will be prohibited, where only philanthropic, religious and Santas Casas entities will be able to carry out the activity in this way in order to raise funds for their maintenance.

In order to carry out the Jogo do Bicho, it will be required that all records of the licensed organization, whether betting or extraction, are fully digitized, allowing the possibility of real-time (online) access by the Union, through the Management System of Control (SGC).

Arthur Lira forwards the project for the release of gambling and casinos to the plenary

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), sent to the plenary to appreciate the proposal that provides for the legalization of games in Brazil this Tuesday, 22, a project of which he is one of the main defenders.

But the agenda suffers from resistance from the evangelical bench. President Jair Bolsonaro has already stated that he intends to veto the bill, if approved in Congress. On the other hand, the economic team of the federal government is favorable due to the projection of revenue growth, generation of direct and indirect jobs and strengthening of national tourism.
