Deputy Bacelar (Pode-BA) was elected president of the Chamber of Deputies’ Tourism Commission for a one-year term. He pointed out three priorities to help boost Brazilian tourism, above all, in a post-pandemic scenario.
“Tourism in Brazil had losses of R $ 290 billion in the pandemic, and 397 thousand jobs were closed. Today, it has only 42% of the revenues it had and it also needs help in the very short term, ”he said.
According to the new president, as an option to the big events, suspended since last year, the regulation of the games market appears. After all, the Regulatory Framework for the Games (PL 442/91) awaits the vote in Plenary and was pointed out as something essential by Bacelar for the country at this time.
“Now in the Tourism Commission, as its president, we will have three priorities: the approval of the Regulatory Framework for the Games in Brazil, the second is to build the bases for the resumption of tourism in the country and, finally, to transform the commission into a large tourist intelligence to build the bases of Brazilian tourism in the post-pandemic, all of this with a lot of participation and a lot of democracy ”, he said.
The deputy also pointed out that the tourist activity is one of the most relevant for the economy and generation of jobs and income. “To give you an idea, in Brazil, tourism participates with 10% of the GDP and generates 9% of the formal jobs in this country. This sector, which is so important to our economy, was the most affected by the consequences of the pandemic ”.
