Recently, Economy Minister Paulo Guedes stated that the legalization of gambling in Brazil could be considered “bold and interesting”. Guedes’ words ended up inspiring companies and professionals related to the gaming segment.
Among these defenders of the liberation of gambling in the national territory is the General Coordinator of the Parliamentary Front for the Regulatory Framework for the Legalization of Gambling and pre-candidate for Mayor of Salvador (BA), the current federal deputy Bacelar (PODE-BA).
In order to discuss and negotiate the issue again in the National Congress, the deputy asked to meet with the Minister of Economy.
The objective, according to Bacelar, is to present the release as an alternative to lessen the impact of the economic crisis after controlling the pandemic of the new coronavirus in the country.
Bacelar believes that legalizing gambling in Brazil can generate thousands of jobs
According to the calculation of the federal deputy, the games could represent about 20 billion reais more in taxes destined for public coffers every year. “Illegality favors clandestinity, money laundering and addiction. It is better to control and be in control of all this ”, he pointed out.
Bacelar pointed out that the legalization of gambling in Brazil can also encourage the emergence of new job openings. The segment can formalize about 500 thousand workers involved with the game of the animal and generate more than 200 thousand new opportunities in other areas. About 620 thousand indirect jobs could also be created.
Also according to the policy, the state of Bahia has full capacity to accommodate betting houses, casinos and bingos. This is because the region is already recognized as one of the main tourist hubs in the country.
“This is an excellent opportunity for our state and, especially, for Brazil. Bets are a latent reality. To close your eyes to this is to lose revenue and jobs. It is a step back, ”he concluded.
