The Hipódromo da Gávea, located in Rio de Janeiro, will host the 41st edition of the Latin American Turf Grand Prix in 2025. OSAF (Organización Sudamericana de Fomento del Pura Sangre de Carrera) decided to hold the event at the Hipódromo da Gávea.
The decision was taken after a meeting at the Hipódromo de Chile, in Santiago, on Friday (9). The choice was unanimous among the OSAF board members, reinforcing the importance and prestige of the Brazilian Jockey Club (JCB) in the South American racing scene.
The event, the most important in Latin American racing, will take place on October 18, 2025, a Saturday. The grass track at Hipódromo da Gávea will host the competition. Horses aged 4 years and over will compete in the 2,000 meters of the track.
This edition will be the seventh time that the Latin American GP will take place in Brazil and the fourth at Hipódromo da Gávea. Previously, the event took place in Gávea in 2016, 1996 and 1985, highlighting champions such as Some In Tieme, Much Better and Old Master.
The choice of Hipódromo da Gávea as the venue reaffirms the international recognition that JCB and its facilities have achieved over the years.
The event promises to attract the best horses in Latin America, as well as racing fans from different parts of the world, further strengthening Brazil’s tradition and relevance in the sport.
