Betfred signs multi-year contract to sponsor the St Leger Festival

The St Leger horse racing festival takes place every year at Doncaster Racecourse and this year the bookmaker Betfred will be a sponsor.

This year, the St Leger Festival will take place over a period of four days, from Thursday 14th September to Sunday 17th September. Previously the event was sponsored by Cazoo; as well as the Epsom Derby and The Oaks.

The British operator is known for sponsoring various sports in the UK such as: boxing, football, rugby, horse racing, darts and many more.

Betfred is the main sponsor of: Rugby League, British Masters Golf, Matchroom Boxing and partner of Manchester United. The company will not only sponsor this event, but has also signed a multi-year partnership with the St Leger Festival.

Having first run in 1776, the Betfred St Leger is the oldest horse racing event in the world. Betfred founder Fred Done commented: “Having the Betfred name associated with the St Leger Festival is not just a sponsorship but a privilege.”

“I am proud to be associated with the oldest classic in the world, which is obviously synonymous with great horses such as Triple Crown winner Nijinsky, Dunfermline for the Queen and Oh So Sharp for Sir Henry Cecil,” added Done.

Arena Racing Company CEO Martin Cruddace said: “Fred Done and his team have long been supporters of British racing, and the inclusion of this historic race in their sponsorship portfolio is another indication of their commitment to the sport.”
