Miami is set to welcome SPORTEL, the premier marketplace and conference summit for the sports media and technology industry. The event will take place April 1 and 2 at the JW Marriott Miami.

This exclusive gathering offers attendees the opportunity to network in a stunning setting, highlighting Miami as the gateway to sports business in the Americas.

Since the first edition of SPORTEL in Miami, more than 25 years ago, both time and technology have evolved. Consequently, the event has also transformed, adapting to new demands and trends in the sector.

This is reflected both in the market and exhibition space and in the carefully curated complementary conference program.

A dynamic mix of international sports executive leaders and disruptive innovators, who are collectively shaping the future of the industry and creating game-changing solutions for sports media, will take to the stage at Speakers Corner to share engaging panel discussions and keynote sessions across the two-day event.

First day schedule

Day 1 (April 1) begins with a focus on Miami and the US, discussing “The American Dream: A Media Hub for Major Sporting Events.”

The world’s largest media market will be analyzed from a variety of perspectives. First, infrastructure will be discussed, followed by topics such as fans, sustainability and broadcasting.

Additionally, the event will feature key guest appearances, including Jillian Falduto from Hard Rock Stadium & Crypto.com Formula 1 Grand Prix Miami and Janelle M. Prieto from the 2026 FIFA World Cup™ Miami Host Committee.

Also participating will be Jonathan Salt of Formula E and Guillermo Santa Cruz of Homestead-Miami Speedway. Moderation will be provided by Mat Ratner of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Evolution of AI

Next, we dive into the rapidly evolving world of AI, which is already redefining the industry. Ethan Podell (Greenfly) and Greg Maratea (Iron Mountain) kick things off with a presentation on “From Archives to Opportunities – The Power of Historical Content,” showing how archived content can be a powerful asset for engaging fans, telling stories, and generating new revenue opportunities.

Next, Mikel Darrigues (Harmonic) will discuss “The AI ​​Revolution in Sports Content: Enhancing Production, Broadcast and Fan Engagement,” exploring use cases such as automated highlights, scheduling for FAST channels, content curation and delivery, multilingual commentary and virtual product placement.

Two panels led by Ken Kerschbaumer (SVG) will cover “It All Starts with Data – The Untapped Gold Mine”, revealing how understanding every attribute of data is crucial not only for monetization, but also for staying agile and relevant in the fast-paced world of sports.

Panelists include Scott Gutterman (PGA Tour) and Craig Carruso (Veritone). Next up, “Generative AI for Sports Media and Storytelling” will explore use cases from rights to sponsorships and discuss how generative AI makes sports businesses more efficient and drives growth.

End of the first day of SPORTEL Miami

Shifting gears, “A New Era of Live Sports Streaming”, in collaboration with Jon Rest (SportBusiness), will discuss how Netflix is ​​stepping up its stake in live streaming of premium events, the growth of live sports content on FAST platforms, and the models and challenges for leagues using their own DTC (Direct-to-Consumer) channels.

Eduardo Arias (Paramount/Pluto TV), Angelina Losada (FOX Deportes), Victor Machado (YouTube) and William Mao (Octagon) participate.

Closing out the day will be the first part of the popular “Pitch Perfect” session, which continues to gain traction as a fantastic showcase for emerging companies with creative or innovative solutions.

Each company has three minutes to present and two minutes for questions, with the winner winning a full visitor pass to SPORTEL Monaco 2025.

Second day of SPORTEL Miami 2025

Day 2 (April 2) kicks off with an open discussion on “European Football Leagues Scoring Goals in the US”, looking at how major clubs and leagues are increasing their investment in the US market and how this will be financed. Jon Rest (SportBusiness) leads the discussion with insights from Andrew Captan (Televisa Univision), Nicolas Garcia Hemme (LALIGA North America) and Yannick Ramcke (OneFootball).

Next, “Winning with Scale and Personalization – The Future of (Fan-Powered) Sports Media,” hosted by Daniel Gonzalez (Vivaro Media), will showcase how sports media can balance global reach with hyper-personalization through data-driven insights, AI-powered content strategies and next-generation platforms that are reshaping the industry.

The upcoming masterclass “Sponsorship: The Revenue Dream for Rights Holders” will highlight how sponsorship is now the second-largest source of revenue for most rights holders. In addition, the session will look at the dynamics of regional models and explore how these models influence brands to connect with their target audiences.

With a full focus on FANS, the “FANtastic and FANcentric Formulas for the FANS of the Future” panel will provide exciting updates on how next-generation fans are consuming content.

Additionally, panelists will discuss how they are engaging with their favorite sports. Finally, the panel will showcase new ways to monetize leagues that deliver hyper-personalized content while collecting valuable data.

The panel will feature Lowell Conn (Protocol Sports), Tom McElwee (Fever), Shawne Merriman (Lights Out Sports TV) and Eric Winter (TrillerTV).

The event will conclude with the second part of the “Pitch Perfect” session and the announcement of the winner, ensuring an innovative highlight to conclude two invigorating days of knowledge sharing and business among participants.
