With the entry into force of online gambling regulations in January, the Brazilian Company for Supporting Compulsive Gambling (EBAC) has gained even more relevance due to its mission. CEO Ricardo Magri detailed the group’s work in combating excessive gambling in the country.
“EBAC is a company built on a mission. Considering other regulated markets, the issue is to treat gambling addiction or, at least, offer some set of controls that act as a buffer to prevent gamblers from becoming problem gamblers. This mission is in line with the regulations. In the entire regulated market, care has been taken to ensure that this does not become a problem,” he pointed out.
However, he stressed that “as with any risk management, you don’t eliminate the risk. You implement some control techniques, such as a pause button, comfortable limits for gambling, exclusion in more serious cases and a specific support channel to understand the psychotherapeutic aspect of the problem. So, EBAC was set up to offer this to operators”.
Partnerships
According to Ricardo Magri, delivery has been very strong in the post-regulation industry, establishing partnerships with the main national groups.
“Operators place our seal, Compulsafe, which certifies that they are in compliance with this part of the legislation, and we also promote our partnerships. It is a question of raising awareness. It is not about causing friction with the market, it is not a question of putting up barriers to business, it is necessary”, he concluded.
