With a rich history in the iGaming market, executive Thomas Carvalhaes took on the role of Country Manager at Stake in Brazil. During the 2025 edition of ICE — the first forum held outside London, England — he spoke about his “new home” and plans for the Brazilian market.
“The event is very good, the impression is that it is even more crowded. People were afraid of this move to Barcelona, but I think it exceeded (their expectations)! What impresses me – besides the number of people – is the focus on Brazil. It’s been very interesting”, said Carvalhaes.

Regarding Stake’s planning for Brazil, he revealed that he is in the team assembly phase. “I am very happy that Stake was chosen and that they entrusted me with the Brazil project. We are building a very competent team, with the best professionals.”
“It’s about continuing to grow, we have the potential to be among the best in the market. We’re going to start with a Top 5 this year, but the objective is to always reach the top”, he stated.
Thomas Carvalhaes also spoke about two important conventions that will take place in the country in the coming months: SBC Summit Rio, in February, and BiS SiGMA Americas, in April.
“The fairs in Brazil will confirm the strength of our market. We are already seeing the international market’s confidence in the Brazilian market with almost a merger between international players and local players. This brings incredible maturity to the Brazilian market”, he commented.
And he concluded: “the return will be the ability of the Brazilian market to confirm its position as one of the largest in the world, now regulated”.
