Alessandro Valente, co-founder of the Brazilian iGaming Summit (BiS), said he was quite surprised by the significant growth of iGB L!VE in its last year in the Netherlands.
“It’s not my first time, but it’s the first time I’ve been impressed by the growth. I was here in 2022, it was one or two pavilions, but very small compared to this entire structure”, he commented.
For Valente, moving the event from Amsterdam to London should further expand its reach. “This move from Amsterdam to London should take a lot of the digital market. Here there are not just affiliates, there is everything. There are platform providers, payments, services, everything for the digital market”, he noted.
Brazilian lounge
Alessandro Valente also mentioned the Brazilian Lounge initiative‘s plans for Lisbon. “For Lisbon, we are still planning. The Brazilian Lounge project is not intended to be profitable, but inclusive,” he stated.
The Brazilian Lounge aims to create a welcoming environment for national and foreign brands interested in the Brazilian market. “If you have a space like the Brazilian Lounge, everything connects there. Everyone has the opportunity to get to know Brazil more, it’s something really cool,” he added.
Regulation
Regarding the regulation of the Brazilian market, the executive highlighted that “we have been fighting to make it a reality. Unfortunately, the rules and fees are not the best. The cost is not the best,” he said.
According to Valente, some operators have expressed concern about current conditions, stating that they will not apply for a license. “It’s unlikely we’ll be able to follow this race, unfortunately, if we don’t create a model that’s interesting for businesspeople, it makes it very difficult to join.”
Despite this, there is significant interest in the national industry. “But there are more than 150 interested brands that will apply for the license, this could improve the scenario for bettors and society”, concluded Valente.
