The betting sector grew 135% in just one year in Brazil. The tendency is for this increase to continue due to the approval of the regulation of sports betting and online gaming in December last year.
About this expansion of betting and the countdown to BiS SiGMA Americas, Alessandro Valente (Co-Founder of the Brazilian iGaming Summit) gave an interview to ‘No Meio do Dia’, from Band News this Wednesday (17).
He was at the iGaming Hub in São Paulo (SP), located on the corner of Avenida Pres. Juscelino Kubitschek with Avenida Faria Lima, where several companies in the sector are headquartered, such as Brazilian Lounge, Super Afiliados and iGaming Brazil.
“Today we have a unique opportunity to explore the Brazilian market, we didn’t have that until recently. We spent more than 80 years with the ban on gambling in the country. So, this opening is fantastic, a new legalized industry with all the rules very clear , it will help Brazil’s economy, it will generate a lot of jobs. We have a lot to gain”, he stated.
“There is an individuality among the biggest players in the market and I think the trend is for this to become increasingly clear to the sector and bettors. But the purpose is like the lottery, participating in a game with the intention of winning and having fun at the same time”, added Valente.
Next step for the igaming industry in Brazil
The Co-Founder of the Brazilian iGaming Summit was also asked about the regulation of physical gambling in Brazil, as the industry is now looking forward to the legalization of physical casinos.
“I think the first step has been taken, that is, internet gaming and sports betting are already a reality. The next inevitable step is that we can have the legalization and regulation of the physical betting sector in Brazil as well, whether through resort casinos or urban casinos”, he pondered.
Alessandro Valente also highlighted the holding of the 2024 edition of BiS SiGMA Americas, the biggest betting event in Latin America between the 23rd and 25th in São Paulo. Ticket purchases can be made on the official website.
“We will have the Band there. So, it will be a pleasure to welcome everyone who is interested in understanding a little more about this vibrant market that is now starting to gain strength in Brazil, with expected growth of more than 100% for next year”, he concluded.
