The invasion of Ukraine by Russia generated a great ‘riot’ in the whole world. Russian troops are trying to take Ukraine’s two largest cities, Kiev and Kharkiv, but are met with stiff resistance. Meanwhile, around half a million refugees fled Ukraine, and in Russia, heavy sanctions began to affect the country.

It should also be noted that Ukraine plays a central role in the iGaming sector. Alex Pratt confirmed the ban in a statement:

Given the current situation in Ukraine, we have taken the decision to suspend Russian and Belarusian state entities, companies and their representatives from participating in Clarion Gaming’s digital events and products, including the upcoming edition (2022) of ICE London and iGB Affiliate.

Our thoughts are with all those who are being affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

On Monday, the NHL suspended business with Moscow-based gambling company ‘Liga Stavok’, which signed a three-year deal in November to become the league’s first exclusive sports betting division in Russia. .

NHL games will also no longer be broadcast on Yandex, the Russian internet giant that first joined the league in 2019.

How did the invasion of Ukraine happen?

On February 24, Russian forces invaded Ukraine by land, sea and air, fulfilling Western fears with the biggest attack by one state against another in Europe since World War II.

Russia’s attack came from three sides and missiles were launched in several cities, including the capital Kiev, just before dawn.
