One of the main companies in the sports betting and online gaming sector in Brazil, EstrelaBet announced some changes in its work with its affiliates. In contact with the iGaming Brazil portal, the bookmaker clarified that the program had not been completely discontinued.
According to EstrelaBet, the program remains in force, but some affiliates were disconnected and received a statement with some guidelines.
This action occurs because the bookmaker is “adapting its operation and strategic planning to the requirements of the Betting Regulations, including with regard to commercial strategy, advertising and affiliation”.
The list of recommendations for this specific group of affiliates includes keeping the wallet active only for the next 30 days from notification. Furthermore, commissions generated via affiliate links will no longer be recorded.
“We inform you that:
• From this date onwards, commissions generated by your affiliate link will not be counted, and will not be available for future Wallet withdrawals.
• Your wallet will remain active for 30 days from this notification.
• During this period, please withdraw the remaining amounts.
• After this period, the wallet will be deactivated and will no longer be accessible”.
It is worth noting that EstrelaBet is not the first company to adopt this stance, adjusting its affiliate program. In July, Betsson Group Affiliates changed the remuneration method for its affiliates.
At the time, the group informed that from August 1st, it would no longer offer “Commission Structures based on a Cost Per Acquisition (CPA) model and (ii) Hybrid Commission Structures with a CPA component, for New Clients (as per defined in the BGA Terms and Conditions) in Brazil”.
“All customers existing before August 1, 2024 will continue to be managed with the Affiliate Agreement concluded between the Affiliate and Betsson Group,” the note said.
The market expectation is that other bookmakers will also review their partnership models with affiliates in the coming months as a result of the legislation that will come into force in the country from January 1, 2025.
