The world of competitive eSports has gone from being just a pastime to becoming a multi-million dollar industry. This phenomenon has not gone unnoticed by bettors, who now find electronic sports a lucrative and exciting arena.
A survey carried out by Pesquisa Game Brasil, in 2023, showed that 63.8% of Brazilian gamers have the habit of following eSports championships. The majority of them (39.2%) watch videos or read about the modalities for one to three hours a week.
According to Ricardo Santos, a data scientist specializing in statistical analysis for sports betting on football and founder of Fulltrader Sports, a Saas Software company for the Final Sports Trade Public, one of the reasons why eSports have become so attractive to professional bettors is the consistency of the teams.
“Unlike traditional sports, where performance can vary significantly from one match to another, electronic sports often feature teams that maintain a level of consistency over time,” he revealed.
Furthermore, teams often undergo intensive training, analysis of previous matches and meticulously planned strategies, which contributes to their stability and consistency of performance.
“For bettors, this stability offers a solid basis for analysis and predictions, making betting on eSports an interesting choice”, he pointed out.
Differences between eSports and traditional sports
Another important aspect that differentiates electronic sports from traditional sports is the rare changes in teams. While in football or basketball it is common to see players substituted during a match, in eSports, substitutions are relatively uncommon.
“In most sports, teams consist of a small group of players specialized in specific roles. The harmony in communication between members is crucial to success, meaning that any changes rarely happen during the seasons”, added Santos.
This factor makes betting analysis and predictions more stable, as bettors gain more confidence in the consistency of team formations throughout competitions.
“This provides greater security when making decisions, considering that the variables related to player changes are minimized”, he highlighted.
It is important to note that games often have clear ranking systems, based on teams’ recent performance.
“In Counter-Strike, for example, the championship organizer ESL publishes a weekly updated ranking that defines which organizations will be invited to the most important tournaments on the calendar. This methodology provides a more objective view of the performance of teams and players in relation to their opponents.”
eSports has emerged as a powerful force in the professional betting industry, offering an exciting and stable platform for bettors.
“The evolution of scenarios, the consistency of the teams and the amount of information available make electronic sports a good option for those who want to invest in this universe”, he concluded.
