The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) sent a new letter to Corinthians, allowing the continuity of the partnership with the bookmaker Esportes da Sorte. This decision comes after concerns about the legality of the sponsorship.
The document maintains restrictions for most bookmakers with state authorization, but makes a crucial exception. Companies licensed by the Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (Loterj) received special permission to operate nationally. Esportes da Sorte, master sponsor of Corinthians, falls into this category.
The CBF letter clarifies: “With the exception of companies authorized by the Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (LOTERJ), due to the provisions of article 35-A, paragraph 8. of Law No. 13,756/2018, as amended by Law No. 14,790/2023 (…) other companies authorized by other States to explore fixed-odd betting may only publish advertising or commercial advertising within the limits of their territory, in accordance with article 35-A, paragraph 4. of the said Law”.
Future of the partnership between Corinthians and Esportes da Sorte
This new guideline represents a significant change in relation to the CBF’s previous communication. In this way, only bookmakers regulated by the federal government were authorized, which could have ended the partnership between Corinthians and Esportes da Sorte.
Maintaining this sponsorship is crucial for the São Paulo club. In addition to generating substantial revenue, the agreement with Esportes da Sorte partially finances the salaries of Memphis Depay, a striker signed by Corinthians in September.
With this new orientation, Esportes da Sorte will be able to continue its exhibition on the Corinthians uniform and the other clubs it sponsors, at least until the end of the current year.
Accreditation with Loterj
In an official note, the company confirmed that it has operating authorization validated by the Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (Loterj). State authorization is for five years. Furthermore, Loterj spoke, confirming the recently granted license.

“Grupo Esportes da Sorte has operating authorization confirmed and validated by LOTERJ and, therefore, obtains approval from the local authority to operate for an initial period of 05 (five) years.
In addition, it requests the SPA/MF license, and awaits, in the coming days, the granting of another license after an administrative appeal, given strict compliance with all legal and regulatory rites established by legislation and its respective ordinances.
