United States President Donald Trump’s visit to the Circa Resort and Casino in Las Vegas brought important discussions to the gaming sector. The American Gaming Association (AGA) highlighted priorities for tax reform.
Among them, adjustments to the slot machine tax limit and removal of the special tax on sports betting. This was Trump’s first visit to a casino during his second presidential term.
The meeting took place under the leadership of Derek Stevens, CEO of Circa, and brought together gaming market leaders to discuss essential changes to the sector’s tax policy.
Tax reforms and support for the gaming sector
Bill Miller, president of the AGA, highlighted the importance of the initiative. He said the event proves the president’s commitment to ensuring the tax code encourages job creation and allows workers to keep more of their hard-earned money.
The gaming industry has seen record growth in recent years. The AGA estimates that total commercial gaming revenue will exceed US$67 billion in 2024. In other words, this figure will represent the fourth consecutive year of historic gains.
In the third quarter of 2023, revenue reached US$17.71 billion, driven by the expansion of online games, which already account for 29% of the total collected.
Event reinforces Trump’s support
The event also reinforced Trump’s support for the gaming industry at critical times. During his first term, federal economic relief measures helped casinos overcome the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition, there are also discussions about taxes, the AGA emphasized other priorities. Among them, responsible gaming initiatives and the fight against illegal operators stand out.
Thus, in 2023, the association recorded an important victory against unlicensed gaming machines in Virginia. Therefore, these efforts show the industry’s commitment to promoting ethical and safe practices for consumers.
