Commerce Casino and Hotel announced emergency measures to help employees and their families affected by the wildfires raging in Southern California, in the United States. The initiative includes temporary accommodation for those who were forced to evacuate their homes, offering a safe haven amid the crisis.
The largest poker room in the world, with more than 320 tables, not only acts as an entertainment icon, but also demonstrates social responsibility.
To ensure the emergency housing program reaches its diverse workforce, the casino communicated the action in English, Spanish and Chinese. Affected employees are advised to contact Human Resources for immediate assistance.
Commerce Casino offers solidarity in times of crisis
Jeff Harris, CEO of Commerce Casino and Hotel, highlighted the importance of supporting employees during challenging times. According to him: “By opening our hotel to those in need, we aim to provide comfort, stability and peace of mind to our valued team members who are facing significant challenges during this difficult time.”
In addition to providing accommodation, the casino is working closely with local emergency services. Thus, the objective is to meet the needs of the community more broadly, showing that solidarity goes beyond its walls.
John Griffo, Director of Community Affairs at Commerce Casino, reinforced the message of support: “We stand in solidarity with the brave first responders and all those affected by these wildfires. That is, together, we will overcome this challenge and provide meaningful support to those who need it most.”

So, this stance is nothing new for Commerce Casino. In August 2024, the casino partnered with Citadel Outlets to launch a VIP package that combined gaming, hospitality and shopping experiences.
