Action for Children received gifts for more than 220 underprivileged children, a number that represents Merkur locations. Willen Hospice patients and nursing staff will enjoy Christmas Day and Boxing Day meals. In addition, Merkur will work with FareShare to help feed 2,100 families of four over the holiday period, representing one donation for each employee.

Mark Schertle of Merkur said: “We are delighted to support these organizations. We try to work with charities that mean a lot to the people who work here, and we know that our donations will make an immediate difference.”

Action for Children has been helping and protecting children across the UK for over 150 years, with the aim of providing a safe and happy childhood for every child.

Schertle added: “By becoming a Secret Santa, we hope to put a little magic back into Christmas for children who would otherwise not receive any presents.”

FareShare redistributes surplus food that would otherwise go to waste through its 32 warehouses to charities across the UK to help fight hunger and food poverty.

Meanwhile, in October 2022, Merkur Slots opened a new $224,994 entertainment center in Lincolnshire as part of a national investment scheme.

Merkur also plans to invest over $12 million in the UK’s high streets this year, and the new location in Lincolnshire will bring the company even closer to that goal.
