2021 was a record-breaking year for the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, located in the US state of Florida. During the 12-month period, the resort’s integrated casino paid out more than $1.2 billion in slot machine payouts.
In total, 420,000 jackpots were paid, with an average win of $3,000, while the biggest slot jackpot in 2021 was $900,000. The resort passed the $1 billion mark in November, celebrated by awarding one player a surprise grand prize of $100,000.
Jason Taylor of the Professional American Football Hall of Fame and former Miami Dolphins player was on hand to congratulate the winner. The establishment also made a $100,000 donation to Taylor’s charity, the Jason Taylor Foundation.
The Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood, aptly dubbed the Guitar Hotel because of its shape that resembles a giant glass guitar, is a joint venture between Hard Rock International and the Seminole tribe of Florida.
The resort’s casino offers nearly 3,000 slot machines, including video poker, video keno, electronic roulette and electronic craps. The casino also has a high-limit slots room with values ranging from 10 cents to $1,000, as well as a non-smoking slot room.
Hard Rock sports betting service suspended a few days after launch
While 2021 may have been a record year for the slots business, Tribo Seminole and Hard Rock also launched a short-lived mobile sportsbook service. The Hard Rock betting app went live in November, but had to stop taking bets on December 4th.
The app’s suspension of activities came after the US District of Columbia Court of Appeals upheld a ruling alleging that the online sports betting business violated federal law. The situation is still undefined.
