In early December, Beetto Saad and Napoleão de Almeida received Luis Alberto Sadalla, exclusive representative in Brazil of Wynn & Encore, Casino de Monaco and Enjoy, to talk about investments in poker tournaments that are increasingly consolidated in Brazil, expansion of business with tourism, generation of employment opportunities with the opening of casinos in Brazil.

In Rio, if the casinos are legalized again, there is already a proposal to build an integrated resort in Porto Maravilha.

These establishments operated normally in the country until 1946 and had great cultural and economic importance, especially the casinos in Urca and Copacabana Palace, in the then capital of Brazil, and the Quitandinha Palace, in Petrópolis.

Sadalla is one of the most qualified Brazilians in favor of reopening casinos. There are arguments and surveys on how much the country loses in jobs, taxes, professions, showbiz, entertainment, with the reluctance to reopen the hotel-casino industry.

The businessman comments “Las Vegas is a city in the middle of the desert, with a 6 km avenue, the Strip, which receives 40 million tourists. See the biodiversity we have in Brazil. This is wonderful. See Mato Grosso and the entire region from northeast”.

“It is possible to develop these regions. Just look at the example of Punta del Este, which was a city before Conrad and after Conrad, which today is Enjoy, and what it brought in with resources with just one casino,” he adds.

Luis Alberto Sadalla: A study is needed on the legalization of casinos in Brazil

For Sadalla, many people are opining negatively on the legalization of casinos without even doing a case study. He warns that there are mechanisms to protect the player and the population as a whole.

“It’s past time to take this broad view of openness. It’s a shame to see that this discussion goes and doesn’t. People who come up with some opinion about money laundering and other things that happen.”

“There is a form of control, by a commission, which requires you to make a prior registration. It’s like a bank and everything is controlled and it is necessary to fill in all the data and have a personal account. Everything is absolutely legal, with everything adjusted and taxation. It’s more regulated than a bank to take a loan,” explains Sadalla.

“To play in a casino it’s the same thing. You have to introduce yourself, have an account and say where the money comes from. It’s past time to have the opening”, concludes Luis Alberto Sadalla, exclusive representative in Brazil of Wynn & Encore, Casino de Monaco and Enjoy, who represents the Casinos Enjoy (Punta del Este), Wynn & Encore (Las Vegas) and Casino from Monte Carlo, Brazil.
