However, expectations are not as optimistic as credit insurer Euler Hermes said, it is unlikely that the global tourism industry will fully recover before 2024.

But that doesn’t stop us from finding ways to reduce that impact. Some politicians see the reopening of casinos as another option to restore the country’s tourism industry.

Federal Deputy Nelsi Coguetto Maria, better known as Vermelho, is one of the defenders of this measure. According to the deputy, losses in the tourist market reach R$290 billion, and associated with that there is still the loss of more than 400,000 jobs.

So far, five bills are pending in Congress to legalize gambling, the most complete being 442/91, commonly known as the regulatory framework for gambling, which is awaiting approval by the Chamber of Commerce.

However, online casino platforms with free bonuses can already operate in Brazil, as long as they have a license from another country to operate games of chance and have their headquarters abroad.

However, the expectation is that Brazil can regulate this practice, both online and in physical establishments. “We need to build the foundations for the resumption of tourism in Brazil and the approval of the Regulatory Framework will be of fundamental importance. The Regulatory Framework defends not only the reopening of casinos, but the legality of all types of games, such as bingo, bicho games, video-slots and online games”, says Vermelho.
