The demolition of the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino took place this Wednesday, 17th, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in the United States. After a period of planning, the project fell into a controlled explosion, under the applause of people who paid to be able to follow everything closely.

The Trump Plaza, which was the first of three casinos run by former President Donald Trump, operated from 1984 to 2014, when it closed its doors and left countless employees unpaid.

The explosion marked the end of the ex-president of the United States’ attempt to invest in the gaming industry, as the other two casinos: Trump Taj Mahal and Trump Marina Hotel Casino, had their names changed in 2016 and 2011.

With the intention of taking advantage of the unique opportunity, a property near Trump Plaza was demanding about $ 10 from every interested party who wanted to watch and demolish it from inside their car.

Other places with good visibility for the complex also promoted real events and even charged up to $ 575 for seats in the front row, with the right to some perks such as breakfast.

The nearby Caesars Atlantic City Hotel and Casino made an offer of $ 300 a night in one of the suites with a great view of the explosion, adding a bottle of champagne to the package.

The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino held an auction with ten accommodation packages for the time of the demolition and earned approximately $ 6,000.

“The people of the city of Atlantic City knew how the (Donald Trump) presidency would unfold on the national scene because we are one of the cities that knew him best,” said Mayor Marty Small after the demolition.

He tried to hold an auction for the right to press the red button that would start the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino explosion to raise money for the city, even registering an offer of $ 175,000.

However, that possibility was vetoed by the new owner of the property and Trump supporter, Carl C. Icahn, who chose to pass this amount on his own to a local charity.
