Betway renews sponsorship with SA Rugby for another four years

SA Rugby, the South African rugby team, has announced the renewal of its partnership with Betway, a leading online betting and gaming brand, for another four years.

According to the announcement on Monday (23), the sponsorship has been extended to include not only the Springbok men’s and women’s teams, as the team’s mascot is known. In addition, the Blitzboks and Springbok Women’s Sevens teams will have support.

The partnership, which has been in place since 2021, will see Betway branding displayed on the back of all four teams’ shorts. The partnership promises to be an exciting year for the men and women in green and gold, kicking off with the Springboks taking on the Barbarians in Cape Town this Saturday (28).

SA Rugby CEO Rian Oberholzer commented on the collaboration: “As we have seen over the past four years, this partnership with Betway has allowed us to work together to bring our passionate fans even closer to the game.”

“We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Betway, which will once again extend beyond the four white lines of a rugby pitch.

Betway has brought some exciting initiatives to the rugby scene, such as Betway Next Phase, an exciting three-year initiative that has helped develop, qualify and empower coaches in women’s rugby.”

“Without sponsors the sport would struggle and we are fortunate to have a partner like Betway who are passionate about the growth of rugby,” he said.

Betway Africa’s Head of Marketing Mark Rowles also spoke. “The Springboks are a team that has brought so much joy to South Africa and we at Betway are delighted to be supporting the Boks for another four years. Our journey has brought so much success to the team and that positive feeling has certainly rubbed off on the Rainbow Nation.”

“We look forward to playing a role in the success of the women’s and sevens teams over the next four years. We will also invest in the growth and accessibility of women’s sport.”

“We will be launching our official Springbok campaign in the coming weeks, which will involve billboards across South Africa. Where Springbok fans have shown their continued support, they have come out in full support of the Springbok.”

“We would also like to take this opportunity to wish the women’s team the best of luck at the upcoming World Cup in England, which starts in August,” added Rowles.
