The National Advertising Self-Regulation Council (Conar) signed an adhesion agreement with three giants in the betting segment: Betano, Caesars and Rei do Pitaco.

With this initiative, these companies become part of the entity and formalize a partnership in favor of maintaining ethical communication and good practices in the betting sector.

“The formal adherence of betting companies to the ethical standards practiced by Conar is an especially positive sign. This demonstrates the rapid maturity and commitment of this important advertising segment to consumers, through responsible advertising”, said Sergio Pompilio, president of Conar, in an official statement.

Bookmakers joining Conar

Since last year, when the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate began to discuss the regulation of betting in Brazil, Conar has been committed to defining clear rules for the communication and promotion of brands in the segment.

So, at the beginning of this year, shortly after the sanctioning of the regulation of betting activities, Conar published Annex X. In other words, this set of rules is aimed at advertising betting platforms.

Therefore, according to the entity, Annex X “presents a set of rules based on the main international references. It is a guide according to each advertising format and serves the central purpose of improving the commercial communication environment in the betting segment.”

The accession of the first bookmakers marks an important step. The entity remembers the agreement signed in 2023 with the National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) and the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR).

“Annex X” Guidelines

Thus, this movement involves:

  • Preparation of guidelines for sector communication.
  • Creation of publicity actions to increase knowledge and adherence to the rules.
  • Handling consumer complaints.
  • Monitoring and analysis of questions about advertisements by the Conar Ethics Council.

Of course, other steps are planned, such as assessing the level of compliance with the rules and permanent contact and cooperation with the activity’s regulatory authority. The aim is to ensure that advertising in the betting sector is always ethical and responsible.

With these measures, Conar seeks to consolidate a more transparent and reliable advertising environment, promoting consumer protection and the integrity of the betting market in Brazil.
