Betfair reveals favourites and chances for Brazilians in the 2025 Club World Cup

Betfair has carried out an analysis of the favourites for the title and the chances of Brazilian clubs in the 2025 Club World Cup, which is about to start. The competition features a new format with 32 teams from all over the world.

The United States will host the competition, with the opening match scheduled for June 14 between Al Ahly and Inter Miami. Brazil will be represented by four representatives: the champions of the last editions of the Libertadores – Palmeiras, Botafogo, Flamengo and Fluminense.

Brazilian teams secured a place in this historic edition after winning the Libertadores in the last four years: Botafogo in 2024, Fluminense in 2023, Flamengo in 2022 and Palmeiras in 2021.

Palmeiras will compete in Group A, where they will face Porto (Portugal), Al-Ahly (Egypt) and Inter Miami (United States). Botafogo is in Group B, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain (France), Atlético de Madrid (Spain) and Seattle Sounders (United States).


In Group D, Flamengo will face Chelsea (England), León (Mexico) and Espérance (Tunisia). Finally, Fluminense will play in Group F against Borussia Dortmund (Germany), Ulsan (South Korea) and Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa).

Brazil has won the Club World Cup ten times, but has gone 13 years without lifting the trophy. Among the four Brazilian representatives in this edition, only Flamengo has won the world title.

Brazilians debut: analysis of the first matches

On June 15, two Brazilian clubs will take to the field. At 7 pm (Brasília time), Palmeiras will face Porto at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. According to Betfair, Verdão has a 28% chance of winning their debut, while the Portuguese have a 44% chance. A draw also has a 28% chance.

On the same day, the current Libertadores champion, Botafogo, travels to the American West Coast to face the Seattle Sounders at Lúmen Field, at 11 pm (Brasília time). The Brazilian club appears as the big favorite, with a 58% chance of victory. The American team has a 23% chance, while a draw has a 19% chance.

The following day, June 16, Flamengo will play its first match against Esperance from Tunisia at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia at 10pm (Brasília time). The bookmaker gives the Rio de Janeiro team an impressive 71% chance of victory, with a draw appearing at 18% and a Tunisian victory at just 11%.

To complete Brazil’s participation in the first round, Fluminense and Borussia Dortmund will face each other on June 17th, at 1 pm (Brasília time), at MetLife Stadium. In this match, the German team appears as the favorite with a 54% chance of victory, while a draw appears with 25% and a Tricolor victory with 21%.

Europe dominates title odds

UEFA sent the largest number of teams to the Club World Cup, with a total of 12 representatives. Four of those places went to the recent Champions League winners: Chelsea (2020/21), Real Madrid (2021/22 and 2023/24) and Manchester City (2022/23).

As Real Madrid have won two of the last four editions, the remaining nine places were decided by a ranking based on the clubs’ performances in recent seasons.

According to Betfair, the big favorite to win the title is Real Madrid from Spain. The team, which recently lost its coach Carlo Ancelotti to the Brazilian national team, has a 17% chance of winning the tournament. In second place is Manchester City, with Haaland and company, the current world champion, with a 14% chance.

  • Flamengo, Fluminense, Al-Hilal, Benfica, Porto, Inter Miami, Boca Juniors and River Plate: 2% each
  • Pachuca, Seattle Sounders, Red Bull Salzburg and Monterrey: 1% each
  • Al Ain, Urawa Red Diamonds, Al Ahly, Ulsan Hyundai, Mamelodi Sundowns, Wydad Casablanca, Esperance and Auckland City: less than 1% each

With representatives from 20 countries, the Club World Cup will take place from June 14 to July 13. The tournament’s greatest champion is Real Madrid, with eight wins, followed by Milan and Bayern Munich, both with four titles each.

Among Brazilian teams, São Paulo leads with three wins, followed by Corinthians and Santos with two titles each. Flamengo, Grêmio and Internacional complete the list with one trophy each.
