The magic of sport, once again, captivated the public during the SPORTEL Awards 2024 ceremony. The awards ceremony took place last Monday (28), at the Grimaldi Forum, in Monaco.

Broadcast live on TV Monaco, the country’s first public national channel within the TV5 Monde network, the night lived up to all expectations.

SPORTEL Awards 2024 with a lot of emotion

Thus, the night began with a parade of champions from different disciplines on the purple carpet, a tribute to the athletics track of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Presented by former decathlete and rugby player Marc Maury, the ceremony took place in the majestic Prince Pierre auditorium , brought together a series of notable figures from the sporting world, from renowned athletes to rising stars.

Golden podiums honored the best sporting sequences of the year, and the Renaud de Laborderie Sports Book Award was awarded to the excellent sports publication The Last Heroes: 100 Moments of Olympics Legend, published by Assouline.

Renowned athletes took to the stage to present the awards to the winners selected by the 2024 jury, led by Laura Flessel-Colovic, iconic French fencer and former Minister of Sports.

Powerful jury selects the winners

The jury brought together prominent personalities from various sports fields, including:

  • Photographer and dancer, Mathieu Forget
  • Pauline Déroulède, number 1 wheelchair tennis player in France
  • Investigative journalist, Stéphane Le Goff
  • Céline Jobert, founder and president of LAFOURMI and The Fan Syndicate
  • World handball champion, Jackson Richardson, representing FNOSC (French National Olympic and Sports Committee)
  • Florent Piétrus, champion of peace and sport and multi-medallist for the French basketball team.

The night also featured an extraordinary acrobatic performance by Nicolas Fleury, who shared the values ​​of the sport, captivating the audience with his bicycle. The excitement was great when Nelson Monfort conducted interviews with French medalists.

Laurent Puons, managing director, commented: “This ceremony pays homage to images and stories that illustrate the best values ​​of sport. Because our champions are examples of courage, perseverance and excellence that the SPORTEL Awards are proud to celebrate.”

Louis Ducruet, representing Prince Albert II, ended the night by presenting the Lifetime Sport Achievement Award to Nikola Karabatic, icon of French and international handball, three-time Olympic champion, four-time world champion and three-time European champion.

The Autobiography Prize was awarded to Dominique Rocheteau. He represents an emblematic figure of French football and winner of Euro 1984, for his book Foot Sentimental, praised for its authenticity and depth.
