Bally’s Corporation demolished the Tropicana Las Vegas as part of a farewell display that included fireworks and a drone show, before ending with a 22-second implosion of the resort and casino.

Tropicana Las Vegas’ two 22-story towers were imploded to make way for the construction of a baseball stadium and entertainment resort, part of a partnership that has been in place since May 2023 between Bally’s, Gaming and Leisure Properties and MLB’s Oakland Athletics, which will move into the stadium.
Several personalities linked to the baseball team and Bally’s were present at the event, honoring the resort‘s history and looking to its future.
Among them were Bally’s President Soo Kim, Athletics owner John Fisher, Tropicana General Manager Arik Knowles, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Chairman Steve Hill and Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson.
“Bally’s is honored to have participated in this historic moment, saying goodbye to the iconic Tropicana,” said Kim.
“So while we celebrate his legacy, we look forward to building a world-class entertainment resort. It will be the future home of Athletics and we will consolidate Las Vegas as the definitive capital of sports and entertainment.”
The time of demolition
But before the implosion, Fireworks by Grucci produced a fireworks display and a show featuring 555 drones. Next, Controlled Demolition Inc and GGG Demolition carried out the implosion of the Tropicana Las Vegas.
Fisher added: “The demolition of Tropicana Las Vegas represents an important milestone. It’s part of the process of bringing baseball to the world-famous Las Vegas Strip and the Southern Nevada community.
“We hope that, over time, this place will become a place of unforgettable experiences for sports fans. Therefore, we extend our gratitude to Bally’s and GLPI for their partnership as we embark on this project together.”
